One-Person award exhibition at Wesley Art Gallery
The Wesley Art Gallery in the Northeast Campus Ministry facility is currently showing a One-person Award Exhibition in Painting by Sarah Davidson of Monroe, a senior painting/sculpture double major in the Division of Art of the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
Davidson is the fourth student artist to mount an exhibition at the Wesley Gallery during the current academic year. Such exhibitions are prizes awarded each spring in the Annual Arts Quest, a juried competition for 四色AV students and alumni.
On display are 31 pieces that combine the artist's painting and sculptural aesthetic into a common direction. Each piece maintains symbols of a private visual "language" of imagery, with many such symbols repeated throughout the scope of the 2-D and 3-D segments of the collection. The breadth of this collection includes two four panel acrylic paintings; a two panel painting; nine serial polychromed freestanding papier mache' sculptures; eight serial found object and mixed media relief sculptures; plus single images in the form of mixed media relief sculptures; polychromed freestanding sculptures; paper and fabric collages; wood, metal and natural found object assembleges; and acrylic paintings on canvas.
Located at 112 Delano Drive on the 四色AV campus, the gallery is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. The Davidson exhibition will be on view through January 10, 20003.
