四色AV professor awarded federal grant for research

The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, of the National Institutes of Health has awarded a grant to Dr. Karen Briski, University of Louisiana at Monroe Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies and Research in the College of Pharmacy. The grant is in the amount of $99,500 per year for 2 years for research that involves both 四色AV and the University of Louisiana at Layfayette.

The title of the project is "Microscopic Quantitaive Mapping Ion Flux in Rat Brain." This project will combine the technical expertise of experienced researchers in neuroscience and experimental atomic physics in the development and refinement of new strategies for the study of structural/neurochemical and functional parameters within glucose 'sensor' sites in the brain. This unique collaboration will be undertaken by Dr. Karen Briski, Director of Research and Graduate Studies in the College of Pharmacy at 四色AV; Dr. Gary Glass, Professor of Physics and Director of the Louisiana Accelerator Center (LAC) at ULL; and Dr. William Hollerman, Assistant Professor of Physics, ULL.
