36th Annual Social Studies Fair tomorrow at 四色AV
The College of Education and Human Development in conjunction with the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will co-host the 36th Annual Region III Social Studies Fair. The fair will be held on Tuesday, March 19 in 四色AV's Fant Ewing Coliseum.
Participants will begin setting up their projects at 7:30 a.m. in the coliseum. Judging begings at 8:30 a.m. and continues until 11:30 a.m. Public viewing of the projects is from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m., followed immediately by the awards ceremony.
This year there are 430 entries coming from nine parishes in Northeast Louisiana. The participants qualify to be in this social studies fair by placing first or second in competitions at their school. The entries and judging are broken down into 3 divisions: 4th through 6th grade, 7th and 8th grade, and 9th through 12th grade. A winner in first, second, third, and forth places in every division and every category will be awarded. There will be one Grand Prize winner overall who will receive a $1,000 scholarship to 四色AV and will be judged in the state fair. There will also be one runner-up Grand Prize winner who will receive an $800.00 scholarship to 四色AV.
The volunteer judges for this event include 四色AV faculty and staff, community leaders, 四色AV students, and retired educators. The fair is co-directed by Dr. Harry Hale, Jr. and Dr. Beverly Flowers-Gibson, both of 四色AV.
