Art Showings and Art Quest for 四色AV

The Bry Art Gallery at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is currently showing a One-person Exhibition of Painting by Professor Donna McGee of Grambling State University. Ms. McGee's exhibition consists of seventeen compositions demonstrating the close relationship between landscape and non-objective imagery. On Thursday, March 7, the final day of the exhibition, Ms. McGee will deliver a gallery talk. The gallery is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.

The Wesley Art Gallery in the Northeast Campus Ministry facility is currently showing an Invitational Group Exhibition by Advanced Painting Students from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Those participating in this exhibition opportunity are DeShay Bradley of Winnsboro; Brittney Bussell of Warren, Arkansas; Crystal Cardenas of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Sarah Davidson of Monroe; Julie Floyd of Strong, Arkansas; Justin Fogleman of Monroe; Kelley May of Columbia; April Parks of Rayville; Kyoung Song of Monroe; Shanette Washington of Ferriday. On display are oil, acrylic and mixed media paintings on canvas espousing non-objective, landscape, still life and figurative imagines, which transcend a myriad of personal stylistic approaches. This exhibition will be on view through March 15. Located at 112 Delano Drive on the 四色AV campus, the gallery is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

The 37th Annual Arts Quest will be held March 11 through April 3 at the Northeast Campus Ministry, 112 Delano Drive, on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The Arts Quest is a juried competition for 四色AV students and alumni. Entries for the Quest must consist of original works in any studio medium by students registered for the current semester. Entries may consist of two works in any studio medium or up to five works in different studio mediums.

Alumni of 四色AV are invited to submit a single work to the Quest without a fee. Were enough entries received, an alumni competition will be held with the winner being awarded with a one-person exhibitions in the Wesley Art Gallery and the honor of serving as a juror in next years Quest.

Student and alumni works will be juried by three practicing and exhibiting artists: Robert G. Ward, professor of painting and drawing at 四色AV; Cliff Tresner, assistant professor of sculpture and drawing at 四色AV; and alumnus Linda Thomas Ward, executive director of the Snyder Museum in Bastrop. A student Best of Show prize will be awarded, and at least six one-person exhibitions in the Wesley Art Gallery during 2002-03, as well as honorable mention recognition's.

NCM sponsors a $200.00 purchase prize for work manifesting high aesthetic quality and sacred content. The Arts Quest will be on view from March 11 through April 3. Properly tagged submissions must be delivered to the NCM facility between March 6th and 8th.
