四色AV Begins Louisiana's First Student Chapter of A+PEL

The University of Louisiana at Monroe will host a chartering ceremony for the development of a new student chapter of the Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana, also known as A+PEL. 四色AV has the distinction of being the first university in the state to organize a student chapter. A+PEL expects a chapter to form on every campus in the state, and takes pride that 四色AV is the leader in this movement.

The chartering ceremony will be held on the 四色AV campus at Strauss Hall, room 148 on Tuesday, April 29, at 4:30 p.m. A reception will follow to honor the chartering members, chartering officers, university sponsors and other university personnel.

A+PEL is a member-driven, statewide organization formed in 1987 to create a focus on excellence in education and to advance the recognition of teachers as career professionals. A+PEL believes teachers should be free to join the professional organization of their choice, to control their own careers, and to negotiate individual compensation. As an independent teacher' organization, A+PEL is a positive alternative to labor unions.

If you wish to participate and can be in attendance, please RSVP to Dr. Bevelry Flowers-Gibson at 342-1300.
