One-person award exhibition by Jessica Head showing at 四色AV

The Wesley Art Gallery in the Northeast Campus Ministry facility at the University of Louisiana at Monroe is currently showing a One-person Award Exhibition in Sculpture by Jessica Head of Grayson, a senior sculpture major in the Division of Art at 四色AV.

Such exhibitions are prizes awarded at the Annual Arts Quest, a juried competition for 四色AV students. Head is the fifth student-artist to mount an exhibition at the Wesley during the current academic year.

Her exhibition consists of sculptural pieces of many different concepts. The largest work in the collection is three 12 inch welded steel freestanding form expanding scale and changing material as it abstracts common blades of grass. Another abstraction is also an expansion of scale in the form of a freestanding egg, which is fabricated from dozens of hand-built ceramic rings. Head repeats the ceramic ring concept with a relief non-objective cluster of multiple forms suggesting a private solar system.

Also included in the exhibition are freestanding and relief non-objective mixed media pieces juxtaposing such diverse materials as woods and sausage casing.

Perhaps the most complex objects in the exhibition are freestanding and relief non-objective pieces primarily constructed of differing varieties, textures and colors of wood presenting in repeat patterns and groupings.

Head's exhibition will be on view through February 7. The gallery is open from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily and is located at 112 Delano Drive on the 四色AV campus.
