四色AV Band Member Serving in Afghanistan Sends Flag
The University of Louisiana at Monroe's band, the Sound of Today (SOT), has three of its members serving in the armed forces in the Middle East. The SOT is proud of these young men and has a yellow ribbon on the tree in front of the Band Building to honor them. The ribbon will be removed when they return home. Student David Ophille, from Bossier City, is one of these men and he recently mailed a personal gift to the 四色AV band from his post in Afghanistan. The gift is an American flag that flew over Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom. Director of Bands, Derle Long, says the flag will play a prominent role in 四色AV's Military Day celebration at the first home football game on September 6th. Ophille is scheduled to be back in the United States in August and back in school this fall.
