International Student Week to be Celebrated at 四色AV

International Student Week festivities at the University of Louisiana at Monroe officially begin with the opening ceremony on March 23, at 4 p.m. at the plaza in front of the University Library. It will be filled with colorful flags from many nations. Students from the International Student Association, ISA, will present the flags of their country and a brief description of each flag's symbolism. The Wig Wam will be open for the public to view international booths showcasing the culture, art, dress and lifestyle of some of these nations. Snacks typical of a particular country will also be offered for sale at some booths.

The ISA will be sponsoring a fashion and talent show on March 28 at 6 p.m. in the Emy-Lou Biedenharn Recital Hall. This is truly a multicultural treat of music, dance and other performances. The fashion show will feature students modeling beautiful styles and fabrics typical of a particular cultural group or region of the country. This event is open to the public.

The ISA will also have a banquet at the conclusion of the week for members and guests only. It will be held March 29 at 6 p.m. in the University Conference Center on the seventh floor of the 四色AV library. The ISA banquet offers international students of 四色AV the opportunity to gather one more time before the end of the semester for awards, entertainment and a nice meal.

International Student Week already had one event on March 15 with friendly competition between the 四色AV chapter of the ISA and the chapter from Louisiana Tech University. Teams from the two universities competed in badminton, basketball, racquetball, volleyball, table tennis and chess. All competitions were held on Louisiana Tech's campus with the exception of a cricket match March 16, which was held on the 四色AV campus.
