四色AV to Hold After Hours "Building Bash" to Kick Off $50 Million Student Housing Project With JPI Campus Quarters
Demolition of Hudson Hall and Sherrouse Hall to make way for new apartment-style dormitories targeted to open fall 2005
Demolition has begun as the University of Louisiana at Monroe
and Dallas-based JPI, one of the nation's leading student housing
and luxury apartment companies, embark on a $50 million student
living project that will provide new apartment-and suite-style
on-campus student housing. Select dorms will also be renovated.
四色AV officials will hold an after hours "Building Bash"
sponsored by Regions Bank on Thursday, July 15 at 3 p.m. in the
University Conference Center on the 7th floor of the 四色AV library.
Everyone is invited.
"Building Bash" Schedule:
3 p.m. Meet at Hudson/Sherrouse site for
photo opportunity with 四色AV, JPI, and Regions Bank Officials.
The group will have hard hats, sledgehammers and will make brief
remarks.
4-6 p.m. Meet on the 7th floor of the 四色AV Library for the "Bash." Refreshments will be served.
Demolition of Hudson Hall and Sherrouse Hall will make way for new Art Deco-style apartment buildings targeted to open in the fall of 2005. The suite-style student living project that will replace Olin, Monroe and Slater Halls will follow with occupancy planned for the fall of 2006. JPI Campus Quarters is also providing comprehensive management services on an ongoing basis for 四色AV's entire on-campus housing program, which totals approximately 1,600 beds, and has already begun meeting with incoming freshmen as they make housing choices.
Along with the housing development, a centrally located park will be constructed on the western bank of Bayou DeSiard, featuring both an outdoor amphitheater and student recreation areas. 四色AV also has plans to renovate the Student Union Building and the WigWam.
