Special Graduation Ceremony to be Held for 四色AV Senior Athletes
A special graduation ceremony will be held for three senior student athletes at the University of Louisiana at Monroe who were unable to attend the university commencement held Sat., May 22 in Fant-Ewing Coliseum. 四色AV President James Cofer, along with Provost Stephen Richters and several academic Deans, handed out diplomas and shook hands just as it happened at Saturday's ceremony. Only this time, it was on a Monday and there were only 3 graduates receiving their degrees. The graduates were baseball players who were unable to attend Saturday's event because they were participating in a 四色AV baseball game.
Receiving their degrees on Mon., May 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the Media Room on the 6th floor of the 四色AV Library, were: James Miller, bachelor of science in mathematics; Nicholas Vidrine, bachelor of business administration in accounting; and Anthony Lamothe, bachelor of science in physical education.
Vidrine is graduating magna cum laude.
"Everyone deserves to have a graduation. The baseball team was away representing the university and that is why they could not attend the university graduation. We are happy to be able to recognize them during a ceremony especially for them, " said Dr. Eric Pani, Associate Provost at 四色AV.
Photos of the event will be available through the Office of University Relations.
