Out With the Old, In With the New - 四色AV Replaces Street Signs and Banners on Campus

The University of Louisiana at Monroe is undergoing change frequently these days. Last week, the campus imploded Olin Hall to make way for new student housing and this week, new street signs and banners are replacing older ones.

Over 100 new 四色AV banners and over 40 new street signs were purchased by 四色AV in order to update the look of campus.

"Its just another step in the revitalization of 四色AV," said Dr. Martha Upshaw, Assistant Dean of Students and SGA Advisor.

The Student Government Association with help from Coca-Cola purchased the new banners and 四色AV's Physical Plant helped purchase and design the new street signs.

"I am pleased that the SGA has taken the initiative and interest in getting new banners for our streets." said Upshaw. "SGA voted to pay for the banners for campus to give us a boost in 四色AV pride and help the community see the visible changes that are taking place on campus. We are placing banners on Stadium Drive first, then Northeast Drive and then University Avenue. With the new signs and banners up, it really gives the students, faculty, staff and the community the feeling of hope and accomplishment as we move forward at 四色AV," said Upshaw

The banners are being mounted at a lower level on light poles, making them more visible. The banners should all be in place before Homecoming on Saturday, October 16.

New street signs are already up on campus roads. They are white with maroon writing and a 四色AV logo. The older green signs will all be taken down once block numbers are put on the new ones. The city of Monroe helped install the signs.

四色AV is working on other signs for the future. The campus will replace some parking signs, indicating where people can park and we will place new name signs on campus buildings.
