Leggitt crowned Miss 四色AV 2005
University of Louisiana at Monroe Doctor of Pharmacy Senior Lori Leggitt from Delhi, was crowned Miss 四色AV 2005 at the 52nd Annual Miss University of Louisiana at Monroe Scholarship Pageant on Thursday, March 3rd at 7 p.m. in Brown Auditorium.
Leggitt is the daughter of Keith and Carolyn Leggitt of Delhi. She won the talent portion of the contest by singing, "Crazy" by Patsy Cline. She also came in first place in the swimsuit, evening gown, and interview categories. Her platform, "High Tech Girls" is a program designed to encourage math and science interests in young girls.
As Miss 四色AV, she will receive tuition scholarship, private on-campus apartment, bookstore award and meal plan for two semesters given by the Campus Activities Board and a $4,000 cash wardrobe award given by the 四色AV SGA. She is now the official hostess of the university and will participate in recruitment, alumni and athletic events.
She will represent 四色AV in the Miss Louisiana Pageant June 16-18 at the Monroe Civic Center's Theatre.
1st runner-up was Francesca Clark, sophomore pharmacy major from Eunice. 2nd runner-up was Jessie Tyler, senior interior design major from Oakdale, 3rd runner-up was Chelsea King, senior music major from West Monroe, and 4th runner-up was Olivia Lawdins, senior kinesiology major from Jennings.
This year's theme was "A Night on Broadway". The award-winning 四色AV Warbonnets provided entertainment for the event. The contestants competed in several events, including Talent, Evening Wear and Physical Fitness and Swimsuit Competition.
Seven contestants competed for the crown, scholarship money and the opportunity to be in the upcoming Miss Louisiana pageant, which will be held in Monroe in June.
