四色AV Enrollment Up for Fall 2005 Semester

The University of Louisiana at Monroe is pleased to announce that the enrollment for the 2005 fall semester is 9,275. This is a 5% increase from last fall's total enrollment, which was 8,836. Since 2002, enrollment has gone up by 13.6%.

"We were confident that we were going to see an increase this year. This university's renaissance of the last 3 years has served to remind everyone that 四色AV is a great institution with talented faculty and outstanding programs." 四色AV President James Cofer said.

Cofer said, "Because of higher admission standards going into effect this year, 四色AV was projected to have a decrease in enrollment. The opposite happened. This says a lot about our university."

Lisa Miller, Director of 四色AV's Recruitment and Admissions said, "We recruited students who are academically prepared for higher education. Recruiting students who are ready for the rigor demanded of a college degree are more likely to be successful. Ultimately, this will begin to affect our retention and graduation rates."

In fact since 2002, there has been a 42% increase in beginning freshman. Miller says this is encouraging and is a direct indication of the combined efforts of the faculty and staff at 四色AV.

Visiting students displaced by Hurricane Katrina also made an impact on 四色AV's numbers. The university enrolled 214 new students but, lost 148 students, many due to the affects of Katrina, including a number that were called to National Guard duty. Even without counting the displaced students, 四色AV had an increase in enrollment.

Another point of pride for 四色AV is the fact that this year the university was again given high marks from students in the student satisfaction survey. 四色AV's student satisfaction rating was 3.79; last year it was 3.6. Since 2002, 四色AV's general student satisfaction rating has increased more than 16%. See the full story here:
