Professor elected president of the Association of Southeastern Biologists
Kim Marie Tolson, an associate professor in 四色AV鈥檚 biology department, is now serving as the president of the Association of Southeastern Biologists.
She was voted in as the president-elect of ASB in April 2005 and served in that position until April 2006, under the mentorship of then-ASB President Dwayne A. Wise from Mississippi State University.
Tolson assumed the presidency at the ASB annual meeting in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Her duties are to prepare the agenda and preside over all executive committee and general business meetings of the Association of Southeastern Biologists; appoint all regular and special committee assignments; provide input and direction to all committee chairs as to their charge for the year; mentor the current president-elect; and serve as a liaison to other professional organizations.
Her term will end in April 2007 when ASB holds their annual meeting in Columbia, S.C. She will then begin her year as past-president and continue to serve on the executive committee in that capacity.
