ɫAV Cheerleaders Bring Home a Second Place Win at Nationals in Orlando
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Cheerleaders recently scored a second place win at the Universal Cheerleaders Association's College National Cheerleading Championship in Orlando, Fla., on Jan. 13.
The team has consistently returned with high placements in the Small Co-Ed Division I category for the past three years. The team has two national championships under its belt from the 2004 and 2005 competitions.
"I am so proud of this squad,” said ɫAV Cheerleaders Coach Jennifer Sword. “We only had six returning members on our competition team, and the remaining were freshmen. They worked very hard and came together as a very strong team. They represented ɫAV very well, and will be a top contender in the coming years."
The ɫAV Cheerleaders are comprised of one squad, including male and female members. The competition team brings 16 members and 4 alternates. The cheerleaders are in charge of cheering at all football games and home basketball games. The ɫAV Cheerleaders are also required to compete at one of the major national cheerleading competitions during each season.
