四色AV student body to select Warhawk name

Due to the widespread interest in naming 四色AV鈥檚 Warhawk, the Student Government Association selected five finalists from the submissions and will ask the student body to vote for their favorite during an online election the week of Aug. 28.

At Thursday鈥檚 meeting, the SGA selected five finalists: Ace, Curtiss, General, Flash and Gunner.

To date, SGA has received over 625 e-mails from the 四色AV family鈥攕tudents, faculty, alumni and community members鈥攚ith name suggestions. Polling began July 6.

The new sideline mascot and its name will be unveiled in late August.

SGA had planned to choose the Warhawk鈥檚 name at Thursday鈥檚 meeting, but due to the overwhelming interest, the senators decided to encourage more student participation through an online election.

鈥淭he community鈥檚 interest in naming the Warhawk inspired the SGA,鈥� said President Rob Carroll.

SGA will announce details concerning the online election soon.
