四色AV鈥檚 31 Ambassadors Win Big at 2006 Association of Student Advancement Programs Conference

The University of Louisiana at Monroe鈥檚 31 Ambassadors, an energetic student-alumni service organization, won several awards at the 2006 Association of Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) District IV Conference in Albuquerque, N.M., March 10-12.

Tommy Walpole, advisor of the 四色AV 31 Ambassadors, received the 2006 District IV Outstanding Advisor Award; Morgan Jones, president of the 四色AV 31 Ambassadors, received the 2006 District IV Outstanding Student Leader Award; and the 四色AV 31 Ambassadors received the 2006 District IV Outstanding Organization Award.

Walpole is proud of the 31 Ambassadors. 鈥淭his group of talented 四色AV students earned this honor due to their outstanding work on behalf of the 四色AV Alumni Association and 四色AV,鈥 said Walpole. 鈥淭hey make us all proud. I had no idea the group had nominated me. It was a very nice thing for them to have done, and I was honored to receive it representing 四色AV and the 31 Ambassadors. They are an exceptional group of students.鈥

The ASAP awards program recognizes first-rate student and advisor leadership and achievement, and outstanding student programming by ASAP member organizations.

The intent of the annual ASAP conference is to provide an atmosphere for making new friends, gathering new ideas by networking and learning new things from a variety of educational sessions, Walpole said.

鈥淲e are very grateful to the 四色AV Alumni Association, the Student Government Association and to the Campus Activities Board for their generous financial assistance,鈥 said Walpole. 鈥淲ithout their support, we would not have been able to attend this year鈥檚 conference.鈥

The 31 Ambassadors is sponsored by the 四色AV Alumni Association and is largely self-sustaining with additional funding coming from the generous contributions of benefactors and the 四色AV Alumni Association. They serve as the official host for alumni-related activities while sponsoring events aimed at increasing student awareness of 四色AV and the Alumni Association. They also continue to foster the spirit of volunteerism and philanthropy among students and future alumni.
