ËÄÉ«AV’s outstanding professors recognized as “outstanding educators”
University of Louisiana at Monroe’s six outstanding professors were honored as “outstanding educators” at CenturyTel’s "Accent on Excellence" breakfast Nov. 16 at the Monroe Civic Center.
The Outstanding Professor honor, which was last awarded in May, recognizes professors for teaching excellence, academic service, scholarship and community outreach.
Those who received the honor include:
- Jeff Galle, English
- Serpil Saydam, mathematics and physics
- Kenneth Clow, marketing
- Wilson Campbell, kinesiology
- Karen Stansbury, nursing
- Khalid A.El Sayed, basic pharmaceutical sciences.
President James Cofer praised the efforts of the outstanding professors, area teachers, school board members and superintendents. All have contributed to the all-time high quality of students at ËÄÉ«AV.
Cofer also highlighted the accomplishments of the six professors who were recognized at the breakfast. Galle, a Christopher Marlowe scholar, has been published extensively; Saydam, has innovative classroom techniques; Clow recently published two books on marketing; Campbell is working on a fitness grant with Monroe City Schools; Stansbury has helped open wound care clinics across the country; and El Sayed is conducting ground-breaking cancer research.
