Radiologic technology professor one of 20 chosen to attend academy
Jay Hicks, interim department head and assistant professor in radiologic technology at ËÄÉ«AV, was one of 20 radiologic science educators from across the nation selected to attend the American Society of Radiologic Technologies Leadership Academy in Albuquerque, N.M., July 20-22.
The Leadership Academy provided an opportunity for educators to meet and build a foundation of shared values and resources to ensure the continued success of the profession, as well as help ASRT to better serve faculty and students, according to the ASRT web site.
"We look for the up and comers who are most likely to have long-term impacts on the educational community," said ASRT director of education Kevin J. Powers. "We strive for cross-representation among program directors, full-time faculty and clinical coordinators. We want participants from both university and community-based settings who represent as many modalities as possible.â€
To be selected, participants must go through an extensive application process and finalists are selected based on a point system.
