Student Health Services promotes sexual health awareness April 24

To educate 四色AV students about the importance of sexual health awareness, Student Health Services will host the Trojan Evolve Tour, Thursday, April 24, from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in Bayou Park.

Local health care agencies, including Region 8 Office of Public Health and Go Care, university staff, and 四色AV student organizations will participate in the event, sponsored by Trojan Condoms. Games and information booths will focus on the importance of STD and HIV prevention.

The event does not promote sexual activity, but instead encourages an open, fact-based dialogue about the importance of healthy practices, said Marge Michel, Student Health Services Clinic Manager.

"This event gives us an opportunity to enhance the sexual health awareness of our students."

Gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, and HPV are the most prevalent STDs on college campuses today, she said. "Our goal is to decrease the rates of STDs by helping our students recognize their risks and empowering them to make smart and informed decisions about their sexual health."
