四色AV graduate chosen to participate in Spanish Embassy program

Michelle Roberson, a 2007 graduate in Spanish from 四色AV, has been chosen to participate in the assistantship program sponsored by the Ministry of Education of Spain. She will teach English to children and teenagers in that country.

Each year the Ministry of Education recruits students from all over the United States, and Roberson is the first 四色AV graduate chosen to participate. The program supports students who wish to spend a year in Spain working in a primary school or institutes of secondary education in La Rioja. Roberson became interested in the program when she was a junior at 四色AV and has worked diligently to become qualified. She was nominated for the assistantship by the 四色AV Department of Foreign Languages and has been mentored by Dr. Christian Rubio. Since her graduation she has been teaching Spanish to elementary students at Grace Episcopal School in Monroe.

Roberson will leave in September. 鈥淚 am excited and nervous about this new experience, but I know that it will broaden my knowledge of the Hispanic culture and language and that the experience will impact the rest of my life.鈥
