Wind Ensemble to present concert in conjunction with the SCRMC Feb. 21

The ËÄÉ«AV Wind Ensemble will present a concert Thursday, Feb. 21 at 8 p.m. in the Monroe Civic Center’s Howard Theatre.

This concert is in conjunction with the South Central Regional Music Conference that will be held from Feb. 21 – 23 at the Civic Center. The concert is free to conference registrants. There is a $5 admission fee for non-conference participants.

The SCRMC had its beginning in Monroe three years ago and has grown into one of the top regional conferences for music performers and teachers. The conductor for the SCRMC high school honor band will be Dr. Lowell Graham, former conductor of the U.S. Air Force Band in Washington, D.C., and current director of the School of Music at the University of Texas at El Paso. Conductor for the high school jazz ensemble will be world-renowned jazz trombonist Bill Watrous, who is on the faculty of the University of Southern California.
