Update on off-campus incident

At approximately 12 p.m. today, a shooting occurred approximately five blocks from the 四色AV campus. 四色AV police officers and university administrators closely monitored the situation, and because the situation was contained and did not pose a threat to the 四色AV community, the campus did not go on lockdown or activate FirstCall, 四色AV's emergency notification system.

四色AV police officers responded to the scene and assisted city and state police officers. The incident, which did not involve anyone affiliated with the university, is now over.

四色AV Provost Stephen Richters notified the campus twice today via e-mail, keeping the university community informed of today's incident.

Monroe Police officers are handling the case.
