Vicki Campbell Anzalone Memorial Scholarship awarded to incoming 四色AV freshman

Incoming 四色AV freshman Emily Darwin is the newest recipient of the Vicki Campbell Anzalone Memorial Scholarship, specifically intended for female water skiers. She received the award at a PREP luncheon June 12 in the University Conference Center.

Factors considered important in qualifying for the one-year scholarship are: the entering freshman applicant must be a female water skier, have a 3.0 grade point average, and preferably have an outgoing personality, athletic ability, and interest in furthering water skiing as a competitive sport.

Gus Campbell, owner of Gus Campbell Water Sports and Boating Center, established the memorial scholarship for his sister, Vicki Campbell Anzalone, also an avid enthusiast of the sport. "She loved skiing, so I couldn鈥檛 think of a better way to pay tribute."

Campbell helped form the original 四色AV Water Ski Team in the 1970s; forging a lasting connection with 四色AV and continuing a lifelong love of the sport. He has credited mutual respect for Coach Treina Landrum and the team as being key motivators for his involvement with university activities.

Contributions may be added at any time to this endowment; checks should be made payable to the 四色AV Foundation, referencing the scholarship by name, and sent to 700 University Ave., Monroe, LA, 71209.
