Winners announced for 15th Annual High School Junior/Senior Juried Art Exhibition at ËÄÉ«AV
The Bry Art Gallery in the Division of Art of the School of Visual and Performing Arts at ËÄÉ«AV is currently showing the 15th Annual High School Junior/Senior Juried Art Exhibition. Northern Louisiana high school art students were eligible to submit in competition, without fee, examples of their studio art endeavors.
These entries were juried by a panel of ËÄÉ«AV art faculty members, who curated the exhibition with what they deemed to be the more superior works. Over 135 entries were received in the competition, and accepted entries of 36 works by 32 student-artists were chosen for display. Top prize winners were announced at the award reception in the gallery Friday, March 14.
The Gretchen Dean Best of Show cash award went to Tess Stickney of Neville High School in recognition of her figure study in charcoal that was "untitled."
The Division of Art cash award was received by Shannon Gipson of Wossman High School, for his color photograph that was also "untitled."
Awards of Merit in the form of art supply gift certificates from Data Bank IMX were received by Logan Horton of West Ouachita High School, Bennie Gremillion of West Ouachita High School, and Lauren Cobb of West Monroe High School.
Beverly Jean Marvin Memorial Art Awards were given to Shannon Gipson of Wossman High School, Katelyn Griffith of West Ouachita High School, and Raphael Swinson of Wossman High School.
Two People's Choice Awards were given to Shannon Gipson of Wossman High School, and Aaron Rosenberg of Neville High School.
The exhibition will be on view through Friday, April 4. Bry Art Gallery is open from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and from 8 a.m. – noon on Fridays.
