Saulsberry encourages high school and elementary students to pursue education

Dr. Pamela H. Saulsberry, head of 四色AV's Department of Social Work, served as the speaker at the 153rd Commencement Exercises for Delhi High School Wednesday, May 14.

She was introduced by Marilyn Nash, a 四色AV education graduate (B.A. 鈥74 and M.Ed. 鈥82), who has taught at Delhi High School for 30 years.

Saulsberry鈥檚 topic was 鈥淧erseverance and Patience.鈥 She reminded the graduates that being willing to work hard and to wait for the rewards of their labor to come to fruition pays off whether the goal is a high school diploma or anything else.

Previously on Monday, May 12, Saulsberry was also the speaker for an awards ceremony at Minnie Ruffin Elementary School. During this ceremony, those students who earned mastery and above on their LEAP Test were recognized - the line formed by these students went across the auditorium. Saulsberry鈥檚 message there was that "reading is the key in educational attainment."

She appreciated the opportunity to speak to students from 鈥渨here the journey to college begins to where the journey to college culminates with the conferring of the high school diploma. Each audience had future 四色AV students in attendance.鈥

Saulsberry felt that the highlight of each occasion was being introduced first by her granddaughter at the Minnie Ruffin Awards Ceremony and then by Nash, a 四色AV graduate, at the Delhi High School graduation.
