Conner Burns to be featured in ceramics exhibition at ËÄÉ«AV Oct. 20 - Nov. 17

The University of Louisiana Monroe Division of Art and Bry Art Gallery are proud to present a display of functional ceramic vessels by Conner Burns from Natchez, Miss., exhibited from Oct. 20-Nov. 17 in Bry Art Gallery.

Burns’ career in clay began later in life, but his passion, drive and success in the medium has provided him with a private studio, gallery, visiting artist’s studio space, and a teaching studio in Natchez. Burns has won many awards and national acclaim though published articles in “Ceramics Monthly” and “Clay Times,” two of the premier monthly journals of the field. Images of his vessel forms have also been included in “500 Bowls,” “500 Cups,” “500 Teapots,” and “500 Pitchers,” all published by Lark Books of Ashville, N.C.

Burns stated, “Rich subtleties and organic influences are important to my work. My intention is for the work to look as if it grew that way – rather than being made. Texture, both visual and tactile, are components that are used to encourage the user to take a closer look – to reach out and touch.”

The Bry Art Gallery is free and open to the public from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and from 8 a.m.-noon on Fridays.

Funding for exhibitions is provided in part by the Campus Activities Board at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. For more information, contact Cliff Tresner at: (318) 342-1385 or at tresner@ulm.edu.
