四色AV pharmacy student awarded prestigious AACP scholarship

A University of Louisiana at Monroe third-year pharmacy student is the recipient of an American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy/Walmart Scholarship.

Kristian S. Fruge, 22, of Kinder, joins only 64 other applicants chosen this year from colleges across the nation, including students from such diverse institutions as Auburn University and Purdue. Jessica H. Brady, Ph.D., is his faculty mentor.

The goal of the scholarship program is to strengthen the recipient鈥檚 skills and commitment to a career in academic pharmacy through participation in programming and activities at the annual AACP meeting and seminars, according to the AACP.

The program will provide $1,000 in travel scholarship money to 65 student-faculty pairs from AACP member institutions to attend the AACP Annual Meeting and the AACP Teachers Seminar in Boston this July.

The funding also assists schools of pharmacy in supporting well-prepared individuals who aspire to join the faculties of expanding programs across the country.
