Equinox Jazz Orchestra performs at ËÄÉ«AV Aug. 22
Fans of Jeremy Davis and The Fabulous Equinox Jazz Orchestra, featuring Clay Johnson, can see them perform at 7:30 p.m., Aug. 22, in Brown Auditorium on the campus of the University of Louisiana at Monroe. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
The 20-piece ensemble began in Monroe, and is now based out of Savannah, Ga. It features some of the South's greatest vocalists as they perform the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Harry Connick Jr., Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller, Johnny Mercer, and Tony Bennett. But the fun and music doesn’t just center on the Big Band era, according to event planner, Cynthia Holliday, of the Radio People.
“If you’ve seen them before, this is going to be all new music,” said Holliday. “These are all new arrangements and will even feature music of cultural icons from Elvis to Johnny Cash to Michael Bublé - we’ve been working hard on this for almost three months to bring music lovers a great show.”
Tickets are $20 for the general public, $15 for students and may be purchased at Ziegler’s, Matt’s Music or from the Radio People.
