四色AV schedules summer commencement exercises Aug. 15

University of Louisiana at Monroe President James E. Cofer Sr. will confer degrees and diplomas to approximately 200 graduates during its 2009 Summer Commencement Exercises, beginning at 2 p.m., Aug. 15, in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.

Long-time 四色AV Professor Bob Cage, coordinator of 四色AV鈥檚 Ed.D. Program, is the Summer Commencement keynote speaker. Cage, who came on board at the university in 1986 as a professor and as dean of the College of Education, earned his Ph.D. from Iowa State University.

Cage is perhaps best known as co-author of a proposal that created the Louisiana Education Consortium (Ed.D. program) in 1995. Of the over 85 doctoral graduates since 1997, many are now superintendents, principals, supervisors, and teachers in schools across Louisiana and 30 are teaching or hold administrative positions in colleges and universities in five regional states.

In 2000, he was named the Outstanding Professor of the Year in the College of Education and Human Development and served on the doctoral committee of a student whose dissertation was chosen as the most outstanding (2003) in the United States by the American Educational Research Association.

In his long and varied career at 四色AV, Cage said one of his greatest memories is witnessing the infrastructural and intellectual renaissance of the campus under President Cofer鈥檚 leadership.
