四色AV Counseling Center offers respite for weary
Staff and faculty who want to deactivate their stress levels may enjoy the benefits of weekly relaxation and self-care group sessions offered through the 四色AV Counseling Center during the spring semester.
The purpose of the Relaxation and Self-Care Hour is to provide an informal time to both learn about and practice various relaxation and self-care methods. Each session will offer a different activity designed to improve relaxation techniques and to provide up to an hour-long break during the workweek, according to Denise Pani, LPC, LMFT, NCC, and session facilitator.
The staff sessions are from noon until 1 p.m. each Tuesday through April 28, while faculty sessions are from noon until 1 p.m. each Wednesday, beginning Feb. 10 and 11 respectively, except for holidays and university closures.
Both faculty and staff hour-long sessions will be held in Room 162 of the Student Center.
Because even a few minutes of relaxation are healing and soothing, the relaxation hours are scheduled at noon to provide a mid-day break. However, participants are asked not to bring food to the room, as it might be distracting to others.
Participants may come for as much of the hour, or as little of it, to get the amount of relaxation and information needed, particularly if they want to eat either before or after the session, said Pani.
