Virginia-based aviation organization awards prestigious scholarship to 四色AV senior
The Airport Minority Advisory Council Educational and Scholarship Program (AMACESP) recently awarded a $2,000 scholarship to a 四色AV general aviation studies major.
Senior Gary McCourt of Monroe, who will pursue a Masters in Aerospace from Middle Tennessee State University following graduation, received the award from the Arlington, Va.-based program, which was founded to benefit future aviation professionals, among other things.
The aviation faculty at 四色AV chose to submit McCourt鈥檚 application based on his achievements, grade point average, and participation with the aviation program, timeliness, as well as other factors. In 2007, only four students from around the nation were chosen to receive this scholarship.
McCourt, an active member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, expects to graduate this May. Since his 2006 enrollment at 四色AV, McCourt has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.032. McCourt graduated from St. Frederick Catholic High School in 2004, where he played baseball for four years and received the Grady Jones award during his senior year.
The mission of AMACESP is to develop educational programs and information designed to substantially increase the nationwide pool of future aviation professionals, particularly minorities and women, and to contribute to the public鈥檚 understanding of the aviation industry.
