ËÄÉ«AV Economic Forum to deliver answers March 25
The economy affects everyone, and the University of Louisiana at Monroe is offering the public an opportunity to learn more at an Economic Forum Wednesday, March 25, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the ËÄÉ«AV Conference Center, located on the seventh floor of the ËÄÉ«AV Library.
Speakers and their topics include, in order of presentation:
After all presentations are complete, the floor will open for questions. Dr. Kevin A. Unter, head of the ËÄÉ«AV Gerontology, Sociology and Political Science Department, will moderate the forum, managing the questions and dealing them out to panel experts accordingly.• Dr. James E. Cofer, ËÄÉ«AV President - How ËÄÉ«AV has dealt with the economic situation
• Louisiana State Senator Robert W. Kostelka - How northeast Louisiana has been affected by the crisis; future outlook
• Dr. Ralph W. Brown, ËÄÉ«AV History Department - Overview of historical economic depressions
• Dr. John W. Sutherlin, ËÄÉ«AV Political Science Department - Different responses globally to the economic situation
• Dr. Robert C. Eisenstadt, ËÄÉ«AV Economics Department - How the current economic crisis came about; possible length and duration
• Bill Willson, Investment Banker - Why banks have had such a hard time with the crisis; the future of investment
Presentations combined should last no more than 75 minutes, and the Q-and-A session no more than 20 minutes. The event is scheduled to end later in case of time overrun due to questions from the audience or members of the media.
