Top 10 ËÄÉ«AV freshmen honored during ËÄÉ«AV and Harvard University game

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Chapter of the Mortar Board National College Senior Honor Society recognized the top 10 freshmen scholars during Monday’s baseball matchup between ËÄÉ«AV and Harvard University.

Each student received a plaque for his or her outstanding leadership, scholarship and service. ËÄÉ«AV Mortar Board President Andrew Norwood also threw out the first ball of the evening.

Mortar Board members represent the top scholars and leaders on their campuses. Since its establishment in 1918, nearly a quarter of a million members have been initiated at chapters across the nation.

The top 10 freshmen scholars for the 2008-09 academic year, and their grade point averages, are listed in alphabetical order:

• Mary Barber, a dental hygiene major from St. Francisville, 4.0 GPA

• Tyler Covington, a kinesiology major from Springhill, 4.0 GPA

• Trevor Hall, an aviation major from Sanger, Texas, 3.4 GPA

• Rachel Hornsby, an elementary education major from Bossier City, 4.0 GPA

• Lauren McCurry, a finance major from West Monroe, 3.8 GPA

• Drew Register, a biology major from Monroe; 3.7 GPA

• Ashley Sisson, a mathematics major from West Monroe; 3.9 GPA

• Angelica Trevison, a kinesiology major from Quitman; 3.8 GPA

• Nick Wilson, a business management major from Little Rock, Ark., 3.3 GPA

• Ben Young, a general business major from Rayville; 3.8 GPA
