National Student Employment Week celebrated at 四色AV
University of Louisiana at Monroe President James E. Cofer will join other 四色AV officials, students and their supervisors at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 13, in special recognition of the 75th Anniversary of National Student Employment Week.
四色AV has designated April 12-16 as National Student Employment Week at the university.
The recognition will occur during an Open House event in the Career Connections and Experiential Education Offices, located on the third floor of the 四色AV Library. The event is just one of several special programs scheduled across campus April 12-16.
A proclamation will be posted to raise awareness about the special role fulfilled by student workers, and those who employ them, according to Roslynn Pogue, 四色AV student employment administrator.
鈥淪tudents play an essential role in the operation of a business or a university,鈥 said Pogue. 鈥淭hey play a vital part in contributing to our local economy. I like to call it 鈥榰nity with a community.鈥欌
Pogue said because of the invaluable service that students and the businesses that hire them provide, 鈥渨e are able to operate as effectively as we do and this is just a nice way to tell them how much we appreciate them.鈥
Student employment offers 四色AV students career-enhancing opportunities, the development of skills relevant to any career, and preparation for the job market upon graduation, as well as the ability to earn extra income to offset college expenses, said Pogue.
