ËÄÉ«AV students treated to annual “wow” factor: Week of Welcome
It’s an annual tradition at university campuses across the country and the University of Louisiana at Monroe is no exception.
ËÄÉ«AV’s Week of Welcome, WOW, offers a full slate of week-long activities to welcome its new and returning students to campus. WOW takes place during the first week of the fall semester, and begins with “Move-in Mania” from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 20 at all of ËÄÉ«AV’s residential halls.
Additional activities include residence hall lobby parties, game night, spirit day, movie watching and much more!
On Aug. 21, Stark-Wood Productions will provide a live concert from 5 to 10 p.m. in the Grove, featuring five bands: Revamp, Eyes Around, Villain for a Moment, Gold Zombie and The Navigator. Fant-Ewing Coliseum is reserved in case of bad weather. There will be a charge at the gate of $5 per person; students with valid identification will get in free, as well as children age 12 and under.
Another annual tradition is the Convocation March, which begins at 4:40 p.m. at the Kitty DeGree Bell Tower and takes the ËÄÉ«AV family across the Bayou bridge to Fant-Ewing Coliseum for the official kick-off to the academic year.
Volunteers will be located throughout the campus to answer questions and may be identified by the white and maroon buttons they will wear marked, “Got Questions?”
