Group shows that 四色AV is "One Campus, One Heart"

The TOMS Shoes Campus Club at the University of Louisiana at Monroe will host a "One Campus, One Heart" event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 9 in the 四色AV Quad.

"TOMS Shoes is an organization that provides a free pair of shoes to an underprivileged child for every shoe purchased through them," Graduate Student and 四色AV TOMS Shoes Campus Club Leader Tricia Hawkins said. "Through their 'one for one' model, the group has donated more than 400,000 pairs of shoes to children in need."

Events include a "Style Your Sole" party, a charity shoe drive and a documentary on the organization. Free food will be available from local sponsors during the event.

Participants in the event can purchase their shoes at and receive five dollars off using promotional code CAMPUS四色AV. After using the code, participants' contact information goes into a drawing to win prizes.

The 四色AV community is encouraged to pre-purchase a pair of TOMS Shoes and bring them to the event for decorating. Paint, markers and other decorative accessories will be available for people to use on their shoes.

"The Style Your Sole Party is a great way to bring people together to express themselves and help children in need by customizing their own pair of TOMS canvas shoes," Hawkins said.

The public is also encouraged to bring old shoes for the philanthropy shoe drive going on during the event. Any shoes, from heels to flip-flops, are welcome.

The event will be held during 四色AV's Greek Week and is sponsored by the Office of Greek Life and the Kappa Phi art fraternity.

"The 四色AV Greek community is always looking for new ways to give back to our campus and local community," Keith Hembree, coordinator of Greek Life, said. "I am excited about the TOMS philanthropic event and encourage everyone to come do their part for the one for one movement."
