四色AV to offer online Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education Grades 1-5

The University of Louisiana at Monroe continues to offer convenient, flexible, affordable, accelerated and accredited access to a college degree through 四色AV's Gateway to OnLine Degrees Program, also known as the GOLD Program.

四色AV鈥檚 long-standing, nationally recognized and nationally accredited Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education degree is now being offered on a fully online platform. This is the only degree of its kind being offered fully online in the state and surrounding region. Graduates will earn certification in elementary education grades 1-5.

鈥淔ew nationally accredited elementary education undergraduate online programs exist nationwide, so we are truly excited to be able to offer this opportunity at our university,鈥 says Robyn Jordan, coordinator for accelerated learning at 四色AV.

Graduates of this program will be liberally educated, knowledgeable in professional understandings and methods, proficient in assessing and improving student learning, and responsive to the ethical, legal and professional obligations inherent to the school and multi-cultural community.

"This unique program will positively impact elementary students through the state and beyond by providing teachers qualified to meet the needs of all students in their classrooms,鈥 according to Dr. Dorothy Schween, department head of curriculum and instruction.

Prior to student teaching, teacher candidates must meet eligibility requirements for Louisiana initial teacher certification, which includes a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 and passing scores on all applicable portions of PRAXIS I and II.

Application requirements, including passing scores on PRAXIS I, must be completed for admission. Admission to teacher education is a requirement for enrollment in professional courses.
