四色AV students head Morehouse Parish Library Parade
University of Louisiana at Monroe student Courtney Harris and recent 四色AV graduate Tiffany Pruitt will serve as Parade Marshals for the second annual 鈥淧et and Pedals Parade鈥 to be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 12, at the Morehouse Parish Library.
Harris and Pruitt are charged with arranging the procession and leading it from the library on Madison Street, through the First Baptist Church parking lot, and back to the library on the Jefferson Street entrance.
Children are encouraged to bring their pets on leashes or in crates, or to decorate bikes, strollers, or wagons to participate in the parade. Prizes will be awarded in several categories including best decoration, best costume, and most obedient animal.
Both Harris and Pruitt have been heavily involved in the parish library summer reading programs for several years, where the children who are regular patrons of the library develop early enthusiasm for reading.
鈥淭he children relate to our young college employees,鈥 said Morehouse Parish Library director Ellen Highsmith.
鈥淐ourtney and Tiffany have helped develop and present programs from Book Bingo, Arts and Crafts, Cake Walks, to an old fashioned Fun Day. We need their perspective and input to make sure our programs will be successful,鈥 she added.
Highsmith said the library鈥檚 other employees rely on both Harris and Pruitt to see that everything 鈥渞uns smoothly and that the children have fun.鈥
Pet Smart is co-sponsoring the June 12 parade.
