ËÄÉ«AV Art Professor Cliff Tresner featured at Downtown Gallery Crawl

Cliff Tresner, associate professor of art at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, exhibited his latest collection, “Fleeting Glimpses,” at the Downtown Gallery Crawl in Monroe last Thursday.

“In this body of work I have done multiple studies of the figure in various poses and gestures,” said Tresner, who said the exhibit turnout was “great.”

“The works contain and present that which I cannot get in sculpture,” he continued. “They offer immediate response on paper to a specific time, place and subject and contain that spontaneous and ephemeral quality of the artist’s hand moving through space and time."

Tresner has been at ËÄÉ«AV since 1997 and received several honors for his work, including the Louisiana Division of the Arts Fellowship and the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council Artist of the Year (2007).

As a professor, Tresner believes it is important to demonstrate research in the field. He recently received a competitive career advancement grant from the Louisiana Division of Arts, which helped in the framing and display of his work.
