ËÄÉ«AV Healthy Hawks and Kinesiology submit PSAs

University of Louisiana at Monroe student organization Healthy Hawks recently partnered with a kinesiology course to produce public service announcements for The BACCHUS (Boosting Alcohol Consciousness Concerning the Health of University Students) Network’s™ “Spring Break” campaign.

The university and community based network focuses on comprehensive health and safety initiatives. The ËÄÉ«AV students submitted PSAs concerning safety while on spring break, sexually transmitted diseases, stalking, and eating disorders.
The campaign features a competition between 14 schools across the country, in which voters may choose the PSA they think best exemplifies ways students can have a safer spring break.

“The PSA was the class’ attempt to use social marketing to increase awareness about health behaviors before, during, and after Spring Break,” said Dr. Mark Doherty, associate professor of kinesiology and the Healthy Hawks’ faculty advisor.
