四色AV benefits from self-defense suits donation
The University of Louisiana at Monroe Police Department recently received a donation of four full self-defense suits, helmets and face shields from the United States Customs and Border Patrol in Minnesota.
The suits, valued at more than $3,500, are currently on loan to the Department of Kinesiology for use in a self-defense class, taught by 四色AVPD Lieutenant Dan Chason.
Chason researched and located the suits through a police website where customs officials had indicated they were interested in donating the suits.
鈥淭hey were upgrading equipment and going with a different style of suit and wanted a smaller department to have them who would actually use them,鈥 Chason said. 鈥淲e fit the bill.鈥
The suits help simulate an actual attack by an aggressor where the student defending themselves can use full effort to strike back at the offender without hurting them.
The suits are also used for training by the 四色AVPD and will be made available to smaller police departments around the area that lack funds and equipment for training.
