French Honor Society initiates new members
The Mu Chi chapter of Pi Delta Phi, the national French honor society, initiated five new members in April in Biedenharn Recital Hall at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. The students were selected based upon their grade point average and their completion of advanced courses in French.
Chapter Advisor Dr. Chris Michaelides and Assistant Professor of French Dr. Fred Adams led the ceremony.
Kristina Reed, Amiee Ferguson, Jean Marie Jones, and Lacy Mitcham assisted during the initiation by reading passages from literature in the Francophone world. Patricia Moncayo, French and English teacher at Sterlington High School, was the guest speaker. Elizabeth Bennett, one of the initiates, also performed music by Francis Poulenc. Dr. Huei-En Hsu accompanied her on the piano.
The initiates were: Joshua Beckham, senior French major; Elizabeth Bennett, senior music and French major; Loretta Collins, junior French major; and Kristen Gix, senior biology major, all from Monroe; Jennifer Hill, senior Mass Communications major from Pineville, and Ashlee Sisson, senior math major from West Monroe.
