ËÄÉ«AV-operated public radio station’s fall membership drive shortened
KEDM-90.3 Public Radio is forgoing the station’s standard eight day fall membership drive, opting instead to meet its fundraising goal with one less drive day and fewer hours of on-air fundraising each day, according to officials.
The station’s goal is to reach $42,000, during a membership drive that kicks off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, and comes to conclusion at 6 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8.
“A shorter pledge drive just means we need to meet the goal faster,” said Joel Willer, director of broadcasting for the University of Louisiana at Monroe. “That way KEDM has the money it needs to provide programming, and listeners hear more programming with less fundraising.”
KEDM Development Director Susan Allain said listeners don’t have to wait for the pledge drive to begin giving to KEDM Public Radio. The station is accepting on-line contributions now at kedm.org.
KEDM, operated by the University of Louisiana at Monroe, depends on the financial support of its local listeners and corporate sponsors to air much-needed programs such as in-depth coverage of news and a variety of entertainment programs.
