ɫAV holds “Reach Out to Help” event in conjunction with National Suicide Prevention Day Sept. 10

The University of Louisiana at Monroe Marriage and Family Therapy Programs will sponsor a “Reach Out to Help” event, part of ɫAV HELPS, an outreach program to show support for National Suicide Prevention Day and to promote Mental Wellness on the ɫAV campus.

The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 10, at Bayou Park on the ɫAV campus. In the event of rain, the event will move to the Student Union Building ballrooms.

ɫAV HELPS is a new project devoted to education and training of all members of the ɫAV family, including students, staff, faculty, and parents, to reach out and offer help and hope to persons who may be experiencing mental health issues up to and including thoughts and/or behaviors related to suicide.

Students, faculty, staff, and parents are invited to share this important event and learn how the campus family seeks to promote mental wellness.

Several participant activities are scheduled, including a balloon launch to signify the number of college-aged students in Louisiana who die by their own hand, along with testimony and discussions with survivors, experts, students, and concerned community partners.
