四色AV "Laughter Yoga" to hold first meeting

Dr. Sandra Lunte invites University of Louisiana at Monroe faculty, staff, students, community members, and everyone of any age, to join her and experience better health, well-being, and a sense of unity and connection with others through yogic breathing, intentional laughter exercises, and childlike playfulness. People living with physical disabilities are also welcome and may perform the exercises in a seated position.

The session is free and the first meeting is set for Friday, Jan. 21 in Room 134 of Biedenharn Hall on the 四色AV campus

Lunte is not only a professor of flute in the Division of Music at 四色AV, she is a Certified Laughter Leader and soon-to-be Certified Laughter Coach. According to Lunte, "Laughter Yoga" is a world-wide phenomenon, with over 6,000 laughter clubs in over 66 countries. It is not traditional yoga, but a group exercise that combines breathing, laughter exercises, and playfulness with eye contact and, for those who are able, movement, to gain physiological and psychological benefits.

"It is believed that laughter delivers these benefits whether it is in reaction to something funny or simply produced intentionally," said Lunte. "If you are willing to laugh, breathe, and play, want to feel good, or are just simply interested in learning more, come with an open mind and heart. Results guaranteed!"

Dr. Lunte's weekly laughter club will be held on Fridays at 12:30 p.m., during the academic year, at Biedenharn Hall. For more information, please contact her at 318-342-1578 and leave a message.
