East meets West through MBA program

For some students, summer is a time of rest and relaxation.

For others, it is a time to pursue some of the requirements for a 四色AV Master of Business Administration degree while exploring an entirely different country.

The University of Louisiana at Monroe offers the same MBA across the globe in Hong Kong that a student could receive right here in Monroe.

The program has been in place since the 1970s and is a way for students to complete their MBA faster, as well as experience another culture.

"The atmosphere, the people, the food, the culture, the way of life is so similar, yet so fundamentally different," Connor Clark (MBA, '10) said of his time abroad in 2010.

"The trip helped open my mind to the world. It allowed me to see how vast it is, and how tiny I am in comparison."

The program is based out of , the first privately owned college in Hong Kong to achieve university status.

Students who attend the Shue Yan MBA program are awarded an MBA degree from 四色AV.

All required classes for the MBA are offered at Shue Yan University during summer and winter session semesters.

Associate Dean and Graduate Coordinator Dr. Donna Luse coordinates the program.

"四色AV on-campus MBA students usually complete their degrees in less than two years," Luse said.

"Because we offer more MBA core classes in Hong Kong than we do at 四色AV during the summer, a student could take advantage of this opportunity and graduate early."

四色AV faculty members teach all of the courses.

The class schedule in Hong Kong is typically based around the 四色AV calendar to accommodate the schedules of traveling faculty and any 四色AV students who may be participating.
