Forty-fifth annual Social Studies Fair coming to ËÄÉ«AV March 17
On March 17, the University of Louisiana at Monroe will again host the 2011 ËÄÉ«AV Region III Social Studies Fair in Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
This will be the 45th consecutive year in which ËÄÉ«AV has hosted the regional fair, offering students in grades 4-12 from nine Northeast Louisiana parishes the chance to participate.
Individual and group awards are given to winners in each of the eight areas: Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Louisiana History, American History, World History, Political Science, and Sociology.
Competition is divided into age groups: Division I – grades 4-6; Division II – grades 7-8; Division III – grades 9-12.
Students enter projects relating to Louisiana industries such as agriculture, banking, forest products, insurance, and tourism among other intriguing topics.
More than 650 students participated in the 2010 Regional Fair, along with their parents and teachers.
The public is invited to view the projects between 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. and attend the awards ceremony that follows, where they may also wish to extend appreciation to the event sponsors.
