ɫAV Radiologic Technology Program director receives honor

Brett Bennett, (B.S. ’01; M.Ed. ’06) director of the Radiologic Technology Program at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, along with his wife Kristen and children Jerrica, Beaux, and Rayleigh, recently received the honor of Outstanding Veteran Family.

The distinction, awarded by the Wellspring organization, is given to families that exhibit outstanding family characteristics such as communicating and listening, teaching respect for others, and valuing service to the community, and has maintained these characteristics while facing and overcoming challenges related to their military service.

“I am honored and humbled to receive this recognition,” said Bennett.

“My wife and I committed to each other through good times and bad, and the difficulties associated with military deployments are tough. I am thankful for my family, my ɫAV family, and the military community here in Northeast Louisiana.”

Bennett served eight years in the U.S. Army and 12 years in the Louisiana National Guard, with deployments to Somalia, Haiti, Germany, Australia, and two hurricanes in South Louisiana.

Bennett has taught at ɫAV for 11 years.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Radiologic Technology from ɫAV in 2001, and a Masters of Education from ɫAV in 2006.
