The University of Louisiana at Monroe's Dr. Chris Gissendanner and Dr. Yong-Yu Liu recently graduated from the IDeA Networks of Biomedical Research Excellence program at the Louisiana Biomedical Research 10th anniversary meeting.

Liu, an assistant professor of pharmacology at 四色AV, was honored for his numerous projects and accomplishments, including 15 presentations at scientific meetings, four invited seminars, 19 publications, and one grant from Mizutani Foundation for Glycoscience.

Gissendanner, an associate professor for basic pharmaceutical sciences at 四色AV, was also honored for his projects and accomplishments that include numerous presentations at scientific meetings, nine invited seminars, seven publications, a federal grant, state grant, and six education grants in collaboration with 四色AV biology faculty.

Two of those grants were from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

"Support from INBRE was instrumental in getting my research program to be nationally competitive, "said Gissendanner. "It also provided resources that allowed me to offer hands-on scientific training opportunities for 四色AV undergraduates."

According to their Web site, the LBRN was established in Sept. 2001. The LBRN is committed to raising the research competitiveness of Louisiana researchers.

四色AV has received support from the LBRN as one of its primary undergraduate institutes.

The LBRN has helped facilitate network upgrades in Hanna Hall and the chemistry building, numerous router upgrades, silicon graphics workstations, and equipment for the cell culture lab.
